How to install mods in Minecraft

Minecraft still enjoys great popularity despite, or perhaps thanks to, its simple graphics and gameplay. By installing mods for Minecraft, you change the world of blocks into a completely new game.

How to install mods for Minecraft

If you want to install a mod for Minecraft, similar to a resource pack, you usually just need to move a file to the right folder. You can reach this as follows:

1. Press Windos key + R and type in the field "%appdata%" without quotes.
2. Then open the folder ".minecraft".
3. There you will find the mods folder.

While some mods just need to be copied into this folder, others come with their own installer for installation. Mod collections like "FeedTheBeast" or "Life in the Woods" offer you the possibility to install and play the collections directly in a launcher. It is therefore advisable to always read the description of the modification carefully.

Install Forge for Minecraft

Many mods for Minecraft will only run if you have Forge installed:

1. Visit the website "files.minecraftforge.net" and select your Minecraft version and the suggested Forge version. Click on "Installer".
2. After you click on the link, a page will open where you can download the file. Do not click on any of the advertisements before you are redirected to the correct download page.
3. Once the installer is downloaded, open it. Select Minecraft if the launcher does not automatically detect the directory and install Forge.
4. Your Minecraft without Forge is still present. Open the launcher and click the arrow next to "Play" on the right to select the profile with Forge.
