Creating iPad folders: sort apps and files

You can create a new folder on your iPad and save it on the device or in iCloud. This way you sort files and apps on your iPad clearly. If you want to delete created folders again, you have to empty them first.

How to create a new folder on your iPad

One way to create a new folder is to use the storage locations. You can store folders and files directly on your device as well as in iCloud or another online storage.

1. Open a storage location, such as the Files app, and you'll find a folder icon with a plus at the bottom. Tap on it, a new folder is created.
2. You can also create a new folder by moving apps.
3. To do this, tap on an app icon on the home screen and hold it down until it starts to wiggle.
4. Now drag the app icon to the icon of another app. This created a new folder to which you can add more apps.
5. To set a name for the folder, please tap on the name field and enter the desired name.

iPad: Delete created folders that you no longer need

Naturally, it is also possible to delete folders that you have created from the iPad again. However, this is only possible by dragging or deleting all files or apps from the folder. If the folder is empty or there is only a single app in it, the folder is automatically dissolved.
