Android 11: Creating folders - how to create order

Apps and file shortcuts can also be organized in folders on Android 11. This will help you keep track of things, especially if you have a lot of apps and other shortcuts on your homescreen.

How to create folders in Android 11

To avoid losing track of your apps and shortcuts on the homescreen, you can place them in folders.
  1. Press an app's icon until you can move the app.
  2. Simply drag the app onto the icon of another app. Android 11 then automatically creates a new folder. If you want to add more apps or shortcuts to the folder, this works by simply dragging them onto the folder icon.
  3. You also have the option to name the folder. To do this, tap the folder icon and select the "Edit" option.
Additional tools such as Total Commander allow you to manage data in the Android storage. Among other things, this also allows you to move data from a memory card to the internal memory.

How to remove created folders

Created folders can also be removed again if necessary. To do this, simply press and hold on the folder icon and, once you can move and edit it, select the "Remove" option. Apps that are in the folder are not completely deleted and can still be found in the app drawer. Die Verknüpfungen auf den Homescreen müssen allerdings neu angelegt werden.
