Remove Facebook data traces - how to become invisible
Big companies like Facebook and Google make a living out of selling user data to companies so they can then effectively serve ads. With Facebook, you have to create your own profile and practically give away your data voluntarily. It doesn't matter whether you use a private chat or a public one.
How to remove Facebook data traces
Facebook may even be able to track which websites you visit in your browser. If you are logged in and have not logged out, Facebook remains active in the background and can find out which websites you visit.- Always log out and clear your browser cache after you have logged in to Facebook. To do this, click on the small triangle at the top right and select "Logout" from the drop-down menu.
- Write as little personal information as possible in your profile. This includes almost everything you post on Facebook. Pictures, geo-data, status posts, and private chats are all cataloged and stored by Facebook. This data is then analyzed and resold using algorithms. Instagram and WhatsApp also belong to Facebook and all the data you share there is also stored.
- You can also delete data from your profile again. To do this, simply go to "Info" in your Facebook profile and then to each individual sub-item. You can delete them by clicking "Edit" next to the entry.
