Installing and setting up XAMPP - it's that easy

You want to take a closer look at programming? Then you should install and set up XAMPP. This way you can set up your own local web server and thereby test operations before uploading them to an active web server. This has significant advantages not only for professionals, but also for laymen.

How to install XAMPP

Installing XAMPP is very simple, as it is a guided installation. However, you will make the process easier if you suspend your antivirus program for a short time.

1. Download XAMPP and click on the appropriate exe file afterwards.
2. Installation instructions will now appear on your screen. Follow them.
3. During the installation, a screen labeled "Select Components" will open. In it, select the components you want to install. However, you can also fall back to the default settings if you are not yet sure what exactly you will need.
4. At the end of the installation, display the "Control Panel". In it, check if the Apache port is already occupied, for example by Skype. If it is not, exit the installation.
5. If the Apache port is already taken, you should change the port settings to avoid error messages.

How to start XAMPP

To start XAMPP, you need to click "Start" next to each individual service. After that, select which admin you want to use for it. Now the program will open automatically in your default browser and you can start using it.
