Surface Pro 6: Red screen - this is the cause

If a red screen appears on the Surface Pro 6 instead of the login page, faulty settings are the cause of the problem. To fix this, it is necessary that you make changes in the UEFI of your Surface model.

Surface Pro 6: Red screen - this is the cause

If you see a red screen or red bar along with the Surface logo after turning on your Surface Pro 6, this is a sign of problems with the device's UEFI settings. To adjust the UEFI settings, please go to "Start" and search for "Manage Bitlocker".
  1. Click "Stop Protection" there and confirm your selection by clicking "Yes".
  2. Then go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Update and Security" > "Recovery" and select "Restart Now" under "Advanced Startup".
  3. The Surface Pro 6 will then restart and the "Select Option" screen will appear.
  4. On the options screen, please select the "Troubleshoot" option and go to "Advanced Options" > "UEFI Firmware Settings" > "Reboot" to enter UEFI.

How to change UEFI settings on Surface Pro 6

Once you have launched UEFI on Surface Pro 6, please go to both "Trusted Platform Module" and "Control for Secure Boot" in it and make sure both options are turned on. Then navigate to "Exit" > "Restart Now" to apply the changes you made and restart your Surface.
