Valheim: Making coal - here's how it works

You may make your first coal early on in Valheim, but then by accident, accidentally burning raw meat on the stove. However, this is not the best way to make coal.

No coal, no metal: the coal pile becomes indispensable at a certain point.

With a regulated coal supply, you can turn your ores into metals. The coal pile is therefore indispensable.

Valheim: How to produce coal

The correct production of coal takes place in the coal pile.

• You unlock this by finding Surtling cores. This is mainly possible in dungeons.
• For the construction you need 5 Surtling cores and 20 wood.
• The coal pile is important to supply the smelter with coal. As input material you use wood, then the pile outputs the finished coal.

From the Bronze Age, the coal pile is therefore increasingly important, after all, you need more and more metals, especially bronze, to make the better tools, weapons and armor.
