Use 1and1's own router
As a customer of 1und1, you do not necessarily have to use the default router. Instead, you can use the router you have at home at the moment and thus forgo the purchase of a router. This will save you quite a bit of money.
This is how you use your own router at 1und1
If you sign a contract with 1und1, the provider usually also offers you a router with it. However, you are also free to use your own router with your contract at 1und1.- If you do not want to use the LAN cable to access the Internet, but want to use WLAN, the router should use at least the WLAN standard IEEE 802.11.
- In any case, make sure that the router you buy also meets the necessary requirements. If you get DSL without splitter or VDSL offered by your provider, for example, the router must meet certain requirements.
- Your router should support at least the bandwidth that you want to use. If you order a bandwidth of 50 Mbps, but your router sends only 24 Mbps, much of your bandwidth will be lost.
- If you have a router that supports the 5GHz frequency band, it would be advantageous to use this band, as it is less frequently used and therefore faster.
- Achten Sie zudem darauf, immer die neusten Treiber und Firmware zu nutzen.
