PowerPoint: Create a mindmap - here's how

By using a mindmap, you can graphically represent content of your PowerPoint presentations. For the mindmap creation to work, you need to create and arrange the appropriate shapes before inserting the text.

This is how you create a mind map in PowerPoint

To make your presentations more vivid with graphics, you have several options to choose from. If you want to use a mind map for this purpose, first create a new presentation as usual and save it on your PC or laptop.
  1. To start creating the mind map, please navigate in the menu bar of PowerPoint to "Insert" > "Shapes".
  2. There, select a shape, for example a rectangle, and drag it to the corresponding position of your slide with the mouse button pressed.
  3. Click the shape then to open the drawing tools menu and make changes to the color or style of the shape.
  4. Now select more shapes under "Insert" > "Shapes" and also add the connection arrows to the mind map.

PowerPoint: How to add text to your mind map

Have you inserted all the shapes, you can proceed to fill your mind map with text or bullet points. To do this, simply double-click on one of the shapes and enter the desired content using the keyboard. To adjust the color, size and font of the text content, first select the text with the mouse and switch to the "Start" tab to set the appropriate values via the "Font" area.
