Enable Radeon Image Sharpening: How to do it

Hardware is the foundation of graphics performance, but optimization can be advanced quite significantly with software. Radeon Image Sharpening addresses owners of AMD graphics cards and aims to extract further percentages. However, the software is only compatible with certain graphics cards.

Like extra sharp: Radeon Image Sharpening is supposed to add the final touch.

This is Radeon Image Sharpening

In July 2019, Radeon Image Sharpening was introduced with the update 19.7.1. With this, images are sharpened. Objects thus appear more clearly defined, the resolution looks better. In addition, the software can provide better performance within your game through adjusted graphics settings.
  1. Download the software from the Radeon website and install it.
  2. Open the Radeon driver software.
  3. Now go to the "Games" or "Gaming" tab and select the appropriate title. Here you can now activate "Radeon Image Sharpening".
  4. Alternatively, select "Display".
  5. For software in German, you will find the function as "Radeon Bildschärfen". Set it to "On".
In the beginning, Radeon Image Sharpening was not available for all new Radeon cards. However, further updates brought improvement, and since October 2019, in addition to Vega and Polaris GPUs, the RX-5700 models are also allowed to use RIS. The following applies: The lower the resolution, the more RIS has a positive effect, while the frame rate only drops very slightly. Meanwhile, Radeon also offers the Radeon Adrenalin 2020 Edition.
