iPhone X does not connect to iTunes: This helps

It can happen that your iPhone X does not connect to iTunes when you plug it in via cable or want to sync via WLAN. Most of the time, however, the error is easy to find and fix.

First Aid: iPhone X won't connect to iTunes

Sometimes there are very simple reasons why iPhone X won't connect to iTunes. Therefore, first check the following:
  • If syncing via WLAN does not work, connect your iPhone to the computer via cable.
  • Scan the cable for cable breakage.
  • Carefully move the Lightning cable near the plug head on the iPhone. If your computer detects the iPhone X in the meantime, there is a loose connection.
  • Check if another USB slot on your computer works.
  • Close iTunes and restart the program.
  • Restart your computer and try to connect iPhone X to iTunes again.
  • Check if there is an update pending for your operating system or for iTunes and install it if necessary.

reinstall iTunes

If the above tips do not help, you should reinstall iTunes. In order to remove iTunes without leaving any residue first, uninstall these programs in named order: iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support. Only after that download the latest version of iTunes and reinstall the software.
