iPhone X: Backup Location - How to Find It

Through iTunes, in addition to managing your music, series, and movies, you also have the option to create backups of your iOS devices. The backups are then stored on your local hard drive. Depending on whether you use a Mac or a Windows computer, you access the location in different ways.

Windows: backup location

Follow these steps to access the directory where your iPhone backup is stored:
  1. Press the [Windows] and [R] key combination to bring up the Run dialog.
  2. Enter "%AppData%" in the input field and confirm your entry with [Enter].
  3. The explorer opens in the directory "Roaming". Find there the folder "AppleComputer" and open it.
  4. Then open the folder "MobilSync". There you will again find the folder "Backup", in which the backups of your iPhone are stored.
Enter the file path: "C:\User\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\AppleComputer\MobileSync\Backup" in the navigation bar in Explorer, you will also get to the location of the backups. If you are not shown certain folders in Explorer, this is usually because they are hidden. Then activate the "Hidden items" option in the view settings to display the folders anyway.

Mac: Backup location

If you are on a Mac, you can find the backup folder via the Finder.
  1. Click on the "Go to" option in the Finder and then select "Go to folder".
  2. Specify the following file path:"~/Libary/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/" and click the "Open" button.
  3. The folder will then open in the Finder and you will see various folders labeled with letters and numbers. Here you will find the backups.
