However, if the application is too expensive or too complex for you, you have various alternatives to choose from, including free ones.

One of the most popular image editing programs is still Photoshop from Adobe. If the program is too expensive or too extensive for you, however, there are still numerous alternatives available.
  1. For example, a well-known program is Gimp. The image editing program provides many functions with which you can also perform more complex edits. With plug-ins, the scope can be expanded even further. In addition, the application impresses with its ease of use. Gimp is available free of charge for Windows, macOS and Linux.
  2. If you would like to create GIFs or completely edit RAW images in addition to the standard functions, then PhotoScape is a good choice. This application is also free, but not available for Linux.
  3. If you want more features than the free alternatives offer, then you can resort to Affinity Photo. The program costs about 55 euros and offers you everything you need for image editing. In addition, there is a free trial version that allows you to try out the program first.
  4. The free program Pain.NET also offers you numerous functions, even for more complex image editing. Working on multiple layers is just as possible as inserting effects. The program is also free, but at the moment only available for Windows.
