MHW Iceborne: Important innovation for the lance - all info

The lance is often ridiculed as a slow defensive weapon, but then surprises with its enormous potential in every way. With Iceborne, this effect is amplified as a new mechanic has been added.

Newly added with Iceborne is the ability of the counter claw:
  • This involves placing the clamp claw (general info on the feature can be found here) in block stance in waiting position.
  • If a monster attack arrives during this time, the mechanic is automatically activated. The hunter thereby jumps to the place of the monster, from which he was hit (so for example tail or head).
  • For a few seconds, an effect like the Trutzmantel is active, so that the hunter can not be shaken off. The monster can consequently be guaranteed weakened or shot by recoil shot (if ammunition available) against a wall.
  • Meanwhile, it is important to look at the health bar, because damage from monster movement is still registered.
  • For the counter claw no ammunition is needed.
Since the counter claw has no cooldown, you can use the mechanic as often as the fight allows. Lance hunters are therefore extremely well suited to keep all parts of the monster's body permanently weakened - the contribution to team play is thus enormous and this is what makes the counter claw so popular, not to mention the fun factor.
