Apple TV: Update manually - here's how

The Apple TV software is regularly updated. You can have the updates installed automatically or do them manually. In both cases, it is important to update the device at all times. This way you close security gaps and benefit from new features.

Apple TV can perform updates automatically, but it is also possible to do it manually.

Apple TV: search and start update

The Apple TV is a set-top box from Apple that allows you to access numerous services through your TV. Updates are offered for it on a regular basis. They improve not only the functionality, but also the security and stability of the Apple TV. Therefore, it is recommended to always install new updates. If you are not sure whether your Apple TV is up to date, you can manually check for updates and start them if available:

1. Go to the "Settings" in the system.
2. Select "System", then "Software Updates" and then "Update Software".
3. There you can see if an update is available. If so, start it with "Download and Install".

After downloading and installing, the Apple TV will restart. Then the latest version is ready for use. Clearly more practical, however, is the automatic update:

1. Go to "Software Updates" via "Settings" and "System" as described above.
2. There you can activate "Update automatically".

This way, manual effort is no longer necessary. Normally it is advisable to select this option and just let the device work independently.
