Compress PDF - Shrink Documents
If a PDF file is too large to upload or email, solve the problem by compressing the PDF. There are several ways to compress or shrink the PDF file. Get an overview here.
Compress PDF using a PDF printer
If the upload of a PDF file fails because it is too large, it is helpful to compress the file. The easiest way to do this is to change the resolution of the file. To perform compression in this way, please open the PDF file first.- In the opened PDF document, then click "Print" and select a PDF creator that allows PDF editing as the printer.
- After that, open the printer properties by going to "Properties" > "Advanced" and reduce the print quality.
- Confirm the changes made with "OK" and create the new, compressed PDF file by clicking "Print".
How to compress a file online
If you do not have a PDF creator installed on your computer or do not want to install additional software, the compression of PDF files can also be done online. For this purpose, for example, the free web tool PDF24 is suitable, which you can find at "tools.pdf24.org".- To compress your PDF file, please call up the page in your browser and click on the "Shrink PDF" function.
- Upload the PDF document via "Choose Files" and click "Shrink" to perform the compression.
- Once the process is complete, you can simply download the shrunk file, send it via email or save it to your Dropbox.
