FritzBox: Remove branding - this is how it works

When you have a new telephone and Internet connection, you usually get a modem and a router provided by the provider. In most cases, this is a FritzBox, but it already contains some default settings. If you want to change something about it, you must first remove the branding.

So remove the branding of the FritzBox

In general, it is so that the provider in its terms and conditions prohibits that you remove the branding. You may have to order a new device and end up bearing more costs than benefits.
  1. The first thing you need to do is change the IP of your PC. To do this, go to the Network and Sharing Center and click "Change Adapter Settings" on the side here.
  2. Right-click on your Ethernet port and select "Properties". After that, continue to click on "IPV 4" and change your IP address to "192.168.178.2".
  3. Now you can remove the branding of the FritzBox. Open a command prompt as an administrator and enter the command "FTP 192.168.178.1". Before you press Enter, restart the FritzBox.
