No Man's Sky: Exotic ships explained - all info

For many players, the search for new ships is the biggest motivation in No Man's Sky. Exotic ships take a special role in this and that's why we explain why they are so popular.

Good, better, exotic: Experienced players specifically look for exotic ships.

We have already provided an overview of ship classes here. Exotic ships go a bit further, as they combine all the strengths - at least almost.

This is why exotic ships are so popular in No Man's Sky

For an assessment of exotic ships, you should know this info:
  • Exotic ships come exclusively as S-class.
  • They combine all the strengths of the other ship types. They are almost as strong in combat as fighters, as heavily armored as freighters and have the range of an explorer.
  • Exotic ships are thus based on a similar concept as the shuttles, as these are considered all-rounders. However, exotic ships still have significantly better values.
  • Only in terms of fuel efficiency, they are not leading: Here, there is no way around explorers.
  • The chance of exotic ships is greater in wealthy systems.
  • But there is also a disadvantage: exotic ships are only available in small size. Accordingly, the inventory is limited to a maximum of 20 plus 6.
If you do get hold of an exotic ship, it is advisable not to own it as your sole ship, as the lack of storage space can be problematic for some purposes. However, as a specialist, such as a fully equipped fighter, the good-looking unique ships can be an excellent choice.
