iOS is the name of the operating system for Apple mobile devices such as the iPhone, iPad and iPod. The software is limited to Apple products and cannot be used on other smartphones, as well as, for example, the competition Android. iOS is now developed in the 14th generation.

• The development of the operating system iOS has already begun in 2005. The first generation was subsequently released in 2007 along with the first iPhone.
• The operating system is used on all mobile devices developed by Apple and is compatible with both macOS and WatchOS operating systems. This is necessary in order to be able to exchange content between the devices without any problems.
• New versions of the software are released every year, with updates also being made in the meantime to fix bugs or security gaps.

To update to the latest version of the operating system, go to "General" in the Settings app of your device. On this field, you will already be shown a red number, should a new update be available. But even without the display, it is a good idea to check for new updates regularly. Tap on "Software update" and perform the iOS update according to the steps given. Your data will be preserved.
