Homematic Message: "Device communication disrupted"

If you use a Homematic IP at home to control smart devices in your household, you may receive the message "Device communication disrupted" in the Homematic app. Among other things, this indicates a missing Internet connection. However, other causes are also possible.

Remedy Homematic error message

Your Homematic controls smart devices in your home via an app. To do this, the device must always communicate with the app and the control access point. If this communication is disrupted, you will receive a warning in your app and must try to find the error. If you get nowhere with our tips, contact Homematic support.

How to restore device communication

  • No internet connection: First check whether you have a WLAN connection and whether all devices are within range of your router.
  • Missing updates: The Homematic app must be updated regularly. To do this, open the Play Store, select "Installed apps" and then "Homematic IP". Tap "Update".
  • Faulty programming. With Homematic, you can control your devices using simple programming. These are often designed in the form of if-then codes. For example, you can set the outdoor lights to turn on when you open the gate. Wenn sich Programmierungen gegenseitig widersprechen oder Funktionen gefordert werden, die vom Gerät nicht unterstützt werden, kann dies die Fehlermeldung hervorrufen.
