Ubuntu: Merge PDF - this is how it works

Even on a PC with Ubuntu as operating system it is possible to merge multiple PDF files into one PDF without any problems. This can be done both via the Ubuntu user interface and via the terminal. We give you an overview of both methods.

How to merge multiple PDFs on Ubuntu

Using Ubuntu as your operating system, there are several ways to merge PDF files into one PDF. One way is to install and use a special program like PDF Mod.
  1. To use PDF Mod, first install it by searching for "PDF Mod" in the Ubuntu Software Shop. Alternatively, you can install it by typing the command "sudo apt-get install pdfmod" through the terminal.
  2. Once you have installed the program, please launch it and click "Open a document" in the top left corner of the toolbar.
  3. Now first select the first PDF and then click on the "plus icon" in the toolbar to open the second PDF document as well.
  4. Now you just have to save the new document by clicking on the appropriate icon in the toolbar.

Merge PDF: How to do it via the Ubuntu terminal

If you prefer to work with the terminal in Ubuntu, you can also merge multiple PDFs via the command line. To do this, open the terminal and enter the command "sudo apt-get install pdfunite" to install the "pdfunite" program. Then change to the directory with your PDFs and enter the command "pdfunite A.pdf B.pdf AB.pdf" in the terminal. Replace "A" and "B" respectively with the PDF file names and "AB" with the name for the new file.
