If you want to insert an animation in the form of a GIF into a PDF, you do not necessarily need a professional, paid program for this. Alternatively, free tools will also help you with the project. Since you cannot display an animated GIF in a PDF, you must first convert the format.

How to insert a GIF into a PDF

It is not possible to easily insert an animated GIF into a PDF. For this, you need a suitable application and must first convert the GIF to another format. To do this, you again need a suitable converter. You can use an online tool for this purpose. Upload the GIF and convert it to a SWF file.

1. Download the free Foxit Reader application from a website of your choice. Follow the instructions to install the software on your computer.
2. Once the process is complete, launch the program.
3. You can now open the PDF in which you want to insert the GIF in Foxit.
4. There is a "Home" tab at the top. Here, click on the "Audio & Video" button. Diese finden Sie im Bereich „Einfügen“.
5. Im nächsten Schritt müssen Sie mit der linken Maustaste ein Rechteck an der Stelle im Dokument ziehen, an der Sie das GIF einfügen möchten.
6. Nun erscheint ein neues Fenster. Klicken Sie hier auf „Durchsuchen“ und navigieren Sie im Datei-Manager zur SWF-Datei.
7. Bestätigen Sie die Auswahl der Datei mit dem „Ok“-Button.
