Android 9: Show working memory - how to do it
The working memory (RAM) is where all the data needed by the currently running programs is temporarily stored. This includes data for calculations, but also image files. These are then processed by the CPU and the result is stored in RAM. Manually, the RAM should only be changed if there are problems.
How can you show the RAM on Android 9?
You should not use RAM Manager apps, because they only terminate other apps in the background. This generally makes Android faster again, but the success is short-lived. To access the Android RAM Management System, proceed as follows:- Open the settings by tapping on the app with the gear icon.
- Here, go to the "Device" option and then further to "RAM" or "System Memory".
- Now you either have to open another menu with the three small dots or go directly to working memory.
- Under "Memory consumption" you can now view the working memory. Here you can also see which app requires how much memory as well as the current utilization of RAM.
- If you now want to quit an app that you think eats too much memory, you can simply click on it and then tap on "Quit" or "Stop".
- You should best uninstall apps that make your smartphone slower, as they were not programmed to be particularly resource-efficient.
