Uphill, downhill, level: The contour lines in Google Maps provide information.

Whether for a mountain hike or just out of interest, it is always exciting to know the contour lines. With Google Maps, this is quite easy.

This is how Google Maps displays contour lines

Proceed as follows:
  1. Open the menu of Google Maps. This you recognize by the icon with the three dashes.
  2. Select there "Terrain".
The map is now displayed in the terrain view - including contour lines. You can recognize these by the fine gray lines that stretch across the map. Depending on the scale, you may need to change the zoom level to see the contour lines better.
