Google Maps: show traffic jams - these steps are necessary

Google Maps is available both for the browser and as an app. So you can use your smartphone to navigate on the go. If you already know beforehand that there is a traffic jam ahead, you can avoid it. This is also possible with Google Maps.

This is how you can have a traffic jam displayed in Google Maps

If you plan a route in advance or have yourself navigated directly on the road, it makes sense to know whether there is a traffic jam ahead of you. This way you can possibly avoid it and save a lot of time. Depending on whether you access Google Maps with the browser or the app, you can display the traffic jam in different ways.
  1. Go to Google Maps via your browser and display the area of which you want to see more information. Alternatively, enter the route, that is, start and destination.
  2. In the upper left corner you will find an icon with three horizontal lines. Click on this to open the menu.
  3. Select the item "Traffic situation" on the left. Then you will see on the map whether roads are closed or how heavy the traffic is at the moment.
  4. If you use the app, also follow the first step given above. Then tap on the map icon in the top right corner.
  5. Here you click on the "Traffic Situation" item in the "Map Details" section. Afterwards, the current traffic jams and closures will be displayed to you here as well.
