AirPods flashing yellow - that's what the icon means

The Apple AirPods charging case has a status indicator that tells you important information such as the charging status or error messages from the headphones. Learn what it means when the indicator glows yellow and what you can do if you have problems with your AirPods.

Status indicator flashes yellow - all important info at a glance

The status indicator is either on the front of the charging case or when you open the case between the two slots for the AirPods.

• If you own the AirPods Pro, you can tap on the case during charging to find out the charging status. If the status light is green after tapping, the headphones are fully charged. If the yellow light is on, charging is not yet complete.
• Connect the charging case that AirPods are in to a charging mat, the status indicator will light up for 8. If the indicator then flashes white, you can set up the AirPods with your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. However, if the indicator flashes yellow instead of white, you need to set up the headphones again before you can use them.

Reset AirPods

If you have problems charging the AirPods or the headphones do not connect after charging, you can try to fix the problem with a reset. To do so, put the headphones back into the charging case and press and hold the setup button until the status indicator flashes white and yellow alternately. You can then take the AirPods out of the case and reconnect them to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
