Windows 10: Enable microphone - how to do it
Voice control is more advanced in Windows 10 than in previous generations of your operating system. Before you can control certain activities by voice command you must first activate the microphone. This may also be necessary if you connect a new headset to your computer.
Windows 10: Enable microphone
If you want to use your microphone in Windows 10, then you must first enable it.- First, connect your headset to your computer or alternatively use the built-in microphone on your laptop.
- Then click on the bottom left on "Start" and then on "Settings".
- Here, select the item "System" and click on "Sound".
- Switch to "Input" and then "Select input device". Now select the microphone you want to use in the list.
- To test the microphone click on "Test Microphone". Speak something and check if the blue bar moves.
Enable microphone for voice control
If you want to use the microphone for voice control, then you need to enable it separately and add apps.- Press "Win" + "i" to open the Windows settings.
- Click "Privacy" there.
- Click "Microphone" in the left navigation bar.
- First activate the slider at the very top under "Microphone".
- In the app list below, all apps are now enabled for voice control. If you only want to control certain apps with the microphone, simply disable the other apps via the button on the right.
