VZ.net: All info on the merger of studiVZ & mein VZ

Before Facebook also conquered Germany, the so-called "VZs" initially led the social media landscape in the Federal Republic. These are now to be revived and we have all the info on the new VZ.

Old becomes new: VZ.net merges the old networks and offers new features.

studiVZ was considered the strongest representative of its family in terms of numbers, meinVZ and schülerVZ supplemented the offering for other target groups. After years of decline of the platforms is now a reboot with a new concept.

This is VZ.net

Officially announced in April 2020 the following information:

• The independent VZs are now combined into one network - this is simply called VZ, to be found at vz.net.
• Existing accounts from studiVZ and meinVZ can be reactivated in the new VZ by importing the data. This must arrange each user himself; the new VZ is not automatically replenished with all old accounts.
• Except remains schülerVZ, which was already discontinued in 2013.
• The transfer also affects groups. This should serve as a plus, since many groups at the time especially from studiVZ had reached cult status.

The new VZ does not plan a technical revolution, but basically includes the usual features of a social network. It is intended to become a Facebook alternative for German users, as the popularity of the market leader is constantly dwindling especially in younger target groups.VZ.net is already online and available, but is initially in the beta phase, which is to be optimized by user feedback. studiVZ and meinVZ continue to run in parallel until the end of June, when they are to be finally shut down.
