Android 9: Hard Reset - how to reset your smartphone

If your touchscreen display hangs up or stops responding, resetting your smartphone can help. There are different ways to do this. A soft reset can fix minor errors without losing any data. In some cases, however, the keys do not respond and only a hard reset is possible.

How to perform a hard reset on Android 9

If you have problems with your Android smartphone, in some cases only a reset can help. Here, there are various options that you can use depending on the situation. You can perform a soft reset if you have minor errors with your device or it has hung up. No files can be lost in this case. It is different with a factory reset. Here, the device is reset to factory settings and all data and settings on the smartphone are deleted.
  1. Also with a hard reset, no files are lost. This is necessary when the buttons also no longer respond and thus a soft reset is excluded.
  2. The hard reset is often equated with a factory reset, but the implementation and the result are different.
  3. To perform a hard reset, you must disconnect your device from the power, for example, by removing the battery. After some time, you can reinsert it and start the device. Usually, the device is then usable as usual.
