Android 11: Transfer screen - how it works

In Android 11, you also have the option to stream the content of your screen to a TV. However, for the transfer to work, you need appropriate streaming devices. Learn here what options you have to transfer the screen content from your smartphone.

How to transfer your screen in Android 11

In order to transfer the screen content from your smartphone to another screen, you first need to pair the devices. This works either wirelessly or with the help of a cable. Current smart TVs can often be connected wirelessly to your smartphone without additional hardware. If your TV is not equipped with such a connection, you can retrofit it with a Chrome Caste dongle, for example. Once you have set up the connection, start streaming via the quick settings of your smartphone.
  1. Swipe your finger down from the top edge of the screen to access the quick settings.
  2. In the menu, tap the "Transfer screen" option.
  3. Then select the device on which you want to share the screen content.

Connect smartphone via HDMI adapter

Alternatively, you can also transfer your screen using a special HDMI adapter. Which adapter type you need depends on what kind of USB port your smartphone is equipped with. For example, many current devices have a USB-C port. Once you have connected the adapter, you can connect your smartphone to the TV or another screen with an HDMI cable. After that, the screen content from your smartphone will be displayed on the connected display.
