Windows 7: Free up memory - these are the tricks
Free memory capacity is essential for your PC to work smoothly. However, after long use, many files accumulate that you don't need and consume memory unnecessarily. To get your PC running smoothly again, memory space should be freed up.
How to free up memory space on Windows 7
Diminishing performance can adversely affect your system on Windows 7 and lead to interruptions, unwanted restarts, as well as crashes. To avoid this, you should free up disk space in time.- To do this, first open your File Explorer.
- There, right-click on the C drive or that drive you want to clean up.
- Now select "Properties".
- In the window that now opens, click "Disk Cleanup". Now it is calculated how much disk space can be freed. For this, you just need to have a small moment of patience.
- After that, a list opens for you, from which you select which files you actually want to have deleted from your PC. Mark them each with a green check mark and confirm your selection afterwards with "OK".
- It is recommended to run through this procedure several times to really remove all useless files.
- Switch to the tab "More", where you can now free up more space.
- There you can clean up programs and obsolete system restore points.
- Uninstall under "Control Panel" also all those programs for which you no longer have a use. Over time, more accumulates there than you might suspect.
