Change image resolution - with these tools it is possible
Resolution is how many dots are printed on one inch. The unit for the specification is DPI (dots per inch). The higher the value, the more detailed and finer the image. You can adjust the resolution with a suitable image editing program.
How to change image resolution
If you change the size of an image without adjusting the resolution, there is usually a loss of quality. This makes the image look blurry and indistinct. This is because the dots or pixels per inch (inch) remain the same. To change this, you need a suitable image editing program. Photoshop or GIMP, for example, can be used for this. However, this method is only possible if you have the image in digital form.- Open the image in Photoshop, for example. Then press the key combination "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "i".
- Now a window opens in which you can change the image size.
- Here you will also find the option "Resolution". Now adjust this according to your wishes. In most cases it will be increased. Decrease the resolution, the image quality will be worse, but you also need less memory.
- If you have not checked "Recalculate", then the image resolution will be adjusted without digital quality loss.
- If you activate this option, however, the resolution will change, but there will be a loss.
- Now confirm your setting with "OK".
