Google Stadia: Is 1440p resolution possible? All info

When it comes to Stadia, whether it's bandwidth or the Pro subscription, there's always talk of choosing between FullHD and 4K. However, for many gamers, 1440p is the widespread standard. Read whether this resolution is supported.

Sharp and fast: Google Stadia now also supports native 1440p monitors.

1440p is also known as WQHD and is currently considered the ideal middle ground between fast performance and razor-sharp images.

Google Stadia: 1440p resolution was enabled in 2020

With Google Stadia, the situation regarding 1440p is as follows:
  • Whoever owns a 1440p monitor can use Stadia in the native resolution.
  • However, this has not been possible since the release of Stadia, but only since May 2020. In the same move, the limitation to 1080p (FullHD) in browser gaming was also lifted.
  • In order to play Stadia games in 1440p, the same requirements apply as for 4K: You need a Pro subscription and the bandwidth must provide at least 35 Mbit/s.
In the settings, you consequently activate the 4K option, as there is no separate setting to 1440p. However, if you use a WQHD monitor, the 4K option automatically applies the correct scaling.
