iPhone default browser change - how it works

When you use an iPhone, you automatically surf with Apple's Safari browser. While you can use other browsers, you can only change the default browser under certain conditions.

As of iOS 14, it's possible to change the default browser on the iPhone. If you tap a link, your chosen default browser will then open automatically. On earlier iOS versions, the setting can only be changed via jailbreak.

How to perform the jailbreak

A jailbreak is not without risk, so be sure to create a backup beforehand. After backing up your data, disable your iPhone's lock code. Here's how to proceed:

1. Download and open the "evasi0n" tool.
2. Connect your iPhone to the computer via USB cable.
3. Now click on "Jailbreak".
4. When prompted, tap on the evasi0n logo on your iPhone.
5. The device will then reboot a few times. This completes the jailbreak.

How to change the default browser

After you jailbreak, you can change the default browser as follows:

1. Open the app store "Cydia".
2. Tippen Sie auf „Suchen“ und geben Sie „Browser Changer“ ein.
3. Wählen Sie „Browser Changer“ in den Suchergebnissen aus und klicken Sie dann auf installieren. Bestätigen Sie die Installation, indem Sie auf „Bestätigen“ tippen.
4. Tippen Sie anschließend auf „SpringBoard neustarten“.
5. Öffnen Sie die „Einstellungen“.
6. Wählen Sie dann „Browser Changer“.
7. Hier können Sie unter „Selected Browser“ den gewünschten Standardbrowser festlegen.
