Microsoft Teams no sound: What to do?

Through Microsoft Teams, companies can hold video conferences with many participants. However, for one or the other, problems sometimes creep in, often having to do with audio playback. So it can happen that either the microphone, the speaker or both devices do not work.

What to do about sound problems on Microsoft Teams

If the microphone, speakers, or even both options are not working on Teams, check the following:
  • Make sure all audio device drivers are up to date and update drivers if necessary.
  • Check that microphone or speakers are connected correctly and clean the inputs and outputs for audio devices if necessary.
  • Exit Teams and restart the PC to counteract audio problems.
In addition, you should navigate to the "More options" in Teams and check under the "Show device settings" item whether the audio devices you are using are set as default. In the device settings, you can also test your microphone before a meeting by clicking on "Make a test call" under "Audio devices". Although there are always glitches with Microsoft Teams, in most cases they can be easily fixed. Often a restart of the PC or the router is enough to remedy the situation.
