Print PDF comments: How to do it

In Acrobat Reader, comments are displayed on the page margin. However, these are not printed unless you change the settings in the Print dialog box. Here you can set comments and markups to be printed as well. This setting applies only to open comments.

Printing PDF Comments with Acrobat Reader

The default settings of Adobe Acrobat Reader do not print comments and other markups in PDF format. However, you can set the Print dialog box to show the comments on the printed version as well. This will print only those comments that are open. In addition, the comments should not overlap so that they are easy to read in the printed version. So move the comments to the right place before printing. Also, underlined or highlighted places will be printed when you print the comments column. It is not possible to select them individually.

This is how comments are printed

  1. Click "Edit" at the top left of your document.
  2. Select "Preferences".
  3. Click on "Comment".
  4. Under "Pop-Up Properties", check "Print notes and pop-ups".
  5. Uncheck "Hide pop-ups when comment list is open".
  6. Confirm with "OK".
  7. Open all comments that should be printed.
  8. Position the comments within the page margins.
  9. Make sure that the comments do not overlap.
  10. Select "File" and then "Print".
  11. Klicken Sie auf Eigenschaften“ und dann auf „Kommentare/Formulare“.
  12. Setzen Sie einen Haken bei der Option „Dokument und Markierungen“.
  13. Wählen Sie „OK“ und dann „Drucken“.
