4G & 5G: Differences explained - all info on mobile surfing
4G has now arrived on most German smartphones. But slowly but surely, 5G is coming into focus as the next expansion stage. Our guide explains the differences.
4G is the successor to 3G, which in turn followed 2G. Based on this nomenclature, 5G is only logical as the next stage.4G & 5G: difference in speed
With 4G, it is not only possible to surf well, but streaming movies is also possible with good network coverage. It is therefore solely about the speed and here show big differences:- The official bandwidth of 4G is specified with up to 100 Mbit/s for downloads.
- Bei 5G, the download speed should be up to 10 or even 20 Gbit / s, depending on the specification. The increase factor would thus be over 100.
- Apart from this, 5G is supposed to enable significantly lower latencies, which would mean a big leap in many fields of application (such as the Internet of Things). The lower delay would also be noticeable in private purposes such as Internet-based communication.
- 5G is significantly more energy-efficient in terms of consumption per bit.
