Receiving Hulu in Germany: Is it even possible?

While German streaming fans focus mainly on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, there is another big name in the US with Hulu. But is this one also available in Germany?

Not without detours: Hulu is not available in Germany, but that could change in 2021.

The streaming market is a billion-dollar business and is expanding across the globe. With Hulu, a familiar name could soon conquer new shores.

Hulu in Germany: Is Disney taking care of the market launch?

Hulu is operated by the three American cable giants ABC, FOX and NBC. This means a correspondingly large and well-known program.

• Access to the service in Germany is not possible so far for legal reasons. To prevent geoblocking is used.
• Purely technically, there is the detour via VPN software as a solution. This is not too complicated, but still requires some basic knowledge. In addition, the legal situation is not clearly clarified to date.
• It should also be noted that not all VPN tools are considered equally secure. The required know-how in this subject area is therefore all the more important.
• Presumably, however, such measures are no longer necessary for long anyway. In June 2020, it was speculated namely that Disney would like to launch Hulu in Europe.
• This would, however, be under a different name, presumably Star, based on the Indian company Star Media, in which Disney owns the trademark rights.

In the meantime, it is considered certain that the Hulu offshoot will come to Germany. A little patience is still necessary, however, because this will probably not happen until 2021.
