Don't turn off your laptop when you close it - here's how

By default, your laptop turns off as soon as you close it. But this setting is not always in your favor. For example, if you're doing an installation or update that takes some time, it's nice to be able to just shut your laptop down while you're doing it.

How to prevent your laptop from turning off

Unfortunately, you can change the settings of your laptop so that your device does not turn off when you close it.

1. Open the Control Panel of your laptop and open the tab of the same name.
2. Select the option "System and Security" and open the power options.
3. You will find an option titled "active power plan", which you click on.
4. Click on "Change power plan settings" and select the advanced power settings from the options that appear.
5. Next to the options "Power switch and close/close/power" and "Default action for shutdown", you will find a plus sign, which you need to select.
6. From the options that appear, you need to click "Do nothing".
7. Afterwards, restart your laptop and you will see that your device no longer turns off when you close it.
