When you stream content to the TV with your Apple TV, you usually want to be able to control it remotely. For this, you can use the remote control or even your iOS devices. In order for you to use them, it is necessary to charge the devices regularly.

1. The charging of the remote control of the Apple TV takes on average two and a half hours. After that, it is fully charged. While the remote is charging, you can use it without any problems.
2. To charge the remote, connect it to your computer or to a power outlet. For the former, you will need the Lightning to USB cable that came with it. If you prefer to use a power outlet, then you can use a USB power adapter that you have from your iPhone or iPad.
3. Be aware that you cannot charge the remote from the Apple TV.
4. You also cannot remove the device's battery without damaging it. This is because the battery is permanently installed and you would have to open the case with special tools to get to them.
5. In contrast, if you own an "Apple Remote" (aluminum), you can remove the battery via the compartment on the back and replace it with a new one.
