CS:GO - Create LAN server - how it works

Counterstrike has been one of the most popular LAN games since the beginning of the series. To that end, Valve early on granted the ability to create private LAN servers so that people can play with friends without an Internet connection. Creating a LAN server is not difficult and is quick.

How to create a private LAN server

On LAN servers, only people who are on the same network as the host can play. To create such a server, you need the enabled console.
  1. Start CS:GO and go to the settings.
  2. Under the category "Keyboard/Mouse" scroll down until you reach the option "Open console". Now set a key to open the console.
  3. Now you can switch to the main menu and start a new server via the button "Play", whose settings you already make in advance.
  4. Connect to the server and open the console with the new hotkey.
  5. Now enter [sv_lan 1] into the console and confirm with [Enter].
  6. Above the command [status] you will find the line udp/ip, where you can read the IP that other players need to connect.

Join the server

  1. All players also need an enabled console.
  2. Mit dem Befehl [connect], gefolgt von der IP und dem Port, können Sie nun auf den Server verbinden.
  3. In der Praxis sieht das Ganze dann so aus: [connect 192.168.172.2:27560].
