Snapchat vs. Instagram - everything you need to know at a glance

Through the two social apps Instagram and Snapchat you can share pictures and videos with your friends or the whole world. However, there are some fundamental differences between the two apps. Get an overview and find out which app suits you better.

The most important details of the apps at a glance

On Instagram, you can upload photos and so-called Stories (short videos). These are then visible to your friends and all other users of the app.
  • Using hashtags, you arrange the images in different categories, so that you can be found by any other user.
  • Pictures are displayed to you in the form of a news feed and can be liked and commented on.
  • If you like the content of another user, you can follow him and see his new posts in your feed from now on. If you particularly like a picture, you can usually save it without any problems.
  • Instagram also offers a variety of filters and other setting options for post-processing your images.
Snapchat is structured differently from Instagram in terms of concept. Unlike Instagram, here you send your pictures or videos only to selected friends or your followers.
  • Special to Snapchat is that pictures and videos are only visible for a limited time. How long this period is, you can set.
  • Pictures and videos can not be easily saved on Snapchat. As the recipient of a snap, you can only create a screenshot or watch the snap again via replay. In both cases, however, the sender is informed about it.
  • As well as Instagram, Snapchat offers a whole range of filters and setting options to edit images and videos.
