The German YouTube landscape has produced its own celebrities. These have evolved their programming over time, as evidenced by the rise in Reaction Videos.

YouTube: What are Reaction Videos and why are they so popular?

Reaction Videos are not complicated:

• As the name suggests, they involve YouTubers reacting to other YouTubers' videos.
• In doing so, they regularly pause the video to express their opinions.
• Reaction videos provide a lot of momentum between the YouTubers, since, for example, new feuds can arise from it, which leads to further videos of this kind.
• With viewers, Reaction Videos are very well received, as the numbers show. Not infrequently, the videos reach more viewers and resonance than the original main content of the YouTuber. One of the reasons for this is probably that the videos give the viewer the feeling of watching a video together with a friend.
• For some YouTubers, Reaction Videos have therefore become the main component of the channel. The advantage of this is that content from outside the channel serves as a basis, so that no own must be created.
• In consequence, more and more YouTubers even create side channels in which only Reaction Videos are posted.

Due to the enormous distribution, it has already been discussed whether the videos are legal at all, as it is possibly content theft. This has not changed anything about the rapidly growing number of these videos: Reaction videos continue to be highly popular, as they bring safe clicks to well-known YouTubers. Of course, this is not a purely German phenomenon, but can be observed everywhere, especially in YouTube's home country, the USA.
