Star Citizen: What are RECs? We explain the currency

In Star Citizen, you usually trade UEC (United Earth Credits). In addition, there is the REC, which you may not have seen yet. Our guide explains what it's all about.

Star Citizen: REC with a clear purpose

REC stands for Rental Equipment Credits. This name is program, because:

• You can spend REC exclusively for renting ships or equipment.
• You earn REC in Arena Commander.
• In addition, you get REC if you are a subscriber. Centurion subscribers receive 20,000 REC per month, Imperator subscribers can enjoy 40,000 REC.

REC are thus important for players who would like to try out the full range of Star Citizen without having to pay the full purchase price in aUEC every time. Testing ships and equipment loadouts is much cheaper thanks to REC and helps to get to know all facets.
