What to do if your printer cartridge has dried up?

All printer cartridges must be used regularly to prevent them from drying up. If it still happened to you that one of your cartridges dried up, there are several ways to solve the problem.

What to do if your printer cartridge has dried up

If one of the cartridges in your printer has dried up, printing with the corresponding cartridge is no longer possible. Nevertheless, you do not necessarily have to replace the cartridge, but you can try to clean it. To do this, remove the cartridge from the printer and clean it with a damp cloth or cotton swab.
  1. If you are using a Windows PC, you can also try to fix the problem by performing a cleaning of the print head.
  2. To do this, navigate to "Devices and Printers" in the Windows Start menu and right-click the name of your printer.
  3. Select "Properties" in the context menu, switch to the "Maintenance" tab in the window that opens and click "Cleaning" to start the cleaning program.

How to prevent a printer cartridge from drying out

If the printer cartridge can no longer be cleaned, your only option is to throw away the old cartridge and insert a new one. To keep this new printer cartridge from drying up, you should print a test page at least once a month. If you print infrequently, you can also remove the cartridge from the printer and store it wrapped in foil in a cool place.
