Gravel bike: what is it and what purpose is it intended for?

Gravel bikes are intended for people who basically want to own a fast, dynamic bike, but are not always on asphalt.

• Building, design and features are reminiscent of racing bikes, road or touring bikes, depending on the version: the seating position is bent forward, lightweight frames are in demand. Suspensions are not used, as these would impair the dynamics.
• The decisive difference is found on the tires: There are namely no narrow, treadless road bike tires mounted, but significantly wider tires. These go more in the direction of mountain bike tires, although not quite as pronounced.

Thanks to this combination, fast and safe rides even over gravel and gravel should be possible without the need for a mountain bike. At the same time, the Gravel Bike is not exactly slow on asphalt roads either. Another bonus is that the thick tires provide comfort.In summary, this means that Gravel Bikes are not true specialists in any area, but try to combine the best of different worlds.
