IP67 protection class - that's what it means
A protection class is specified for many technical devices and indicates how protected they are against environmental influences. As with the IP67 protection class, the extent of protection can be identified by the digits of the code. We explain how to interpret the IP class correctly.
IP67 protection class: that's what the codes mean
IP is the abbreviation for "International Protection". Here, the IP number indicates how well devices, for example smartphones, are protected against environmental influences. While the first digit indicates protection against the ingress of dust and solid foreign objects, the second digit tells you whether your device is protected against contact with water. This is how protected your device is with protection class IP67
While the scale for dust protection ranges from 0 to 6, water resistance is indicated on a scale from 0 to 9. If you have bought a device with the IP67 protection class, you can thus tell by the "6" that it is completely dust-proof. The indication of "7" in turn signals that the device is protected against temporary immersion.- While devices with the code number 0 are not protected against foreign bodies, the numbers 1 to 4 indicate that the device is protected against foreign bodies of varying thickness.
- Also in the case of protection against water, the 0 signals a non-existent protection.
