PowerPoint: Rotate slide - how to change the arrangement

In PowerPoint, slides are oriented in landscape format by default. However, for some presentations it is worth positioning them in portrait orientation. Slides in PowerPoint can be rotated quite easily.

How to rotate slides in PowerPoint

If you want to align a PowerPoint slide from the typical landscape to portrait format, proceed as follows:
  1. First, open the project in PowerPoint whose slides you want to rotate.
  2. Select "Draft" from the tabs in the upper area.
  3. On the right side, there is a "Slide Size" button. Click on it and select "Custom slide size".
  4. In the new window, you can set the orientation of the slides. So click here on "Portrait" or "Landscape".
  5. Once you click "OK", you can choose whether the slides should be maximized or scaled to fit.
  6. The slides will now all be rotated.

Can individual slides be rotated?

At the moment, PowerPoint does not yet offer a function to rotate only individual slides. However, there is a small workaround:
  1. It is possible to link two PowerPoint presentations together.
  2. In doing so, you create two presentations, one oriented in landscape and the other in portrait.
  3. Next, you create a link via "Insert > Object > Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation".
  4. Once both presentations are linked, you can play them as one and both vertical and horizontal slides will be displayed.
