Can you play 4k on Xbox One S?

Since the last few years, higher and higher resolutions have become possible in film and television. This trend has already reached the gaming world as well. But in order for you to be able to watch the games in 4k, your console has to support this resolution as well as your TV. With the Xbox One S, this is only possible to a certain extent.

Is it possible to play in 4k on the Xbox One S?

With many games, it's the resolution of the graphics that excites many gamers so much. Meanwhile, there are also 4k televisions on which you can watch movies and series in the highest resolution. If you want to have this with your games as well, it is only possible if the console you use also supports 4k. With the Xbox One S, this is possible, but only with restrictions.
  1. The Xbox One S does not directly support 4k in games.
  2. On a 4k TV, the games can be displayed with a resolution of 4,096 x 2,160 pixels.
  3. To ensure that this is then also displayed in this way, it is important that the console can also perform these graphics. The Xbox One S upscales the content to 4k.
  4. This increases the resolution of the games, but the upscaling of the graphics does not come close to real 4k. This is because the original resolution of the game is only upscaled to 4k by the console.
