Mobile payment services are on the rise, but require the cooperation of banks. In the meantime, Sparkasse has also recognized the trend and enables its customers to use Apple Pay to pay for purchases in online stores and directly on site with Apple's payment service.

After some time to think about it, Sparkasse has now also agreed to Apple Pay.

Sparkasse: Apple Pay officially confirmed

While it was initially not possible for Sparkasse customers to use the service after the launch of Apple Pay in Germany, this is now different. If you have a Sparkasse account and an Apple Pay-enabled device, you can use Apple Pay to make payments. However, the prerequisite for this is that you have installed the current Sparkasse app on your Apple device and your online banking access is activated.

How to set up Apple Pay as a Sparkasse customer

In order to use Apple Pay, a setup is necessary beforehand, in the course of which you must add your Sparkasse card to Apple Pay. This can be done either via the Sparkasse app or the Wallet app.

1. Use the Sparkasse app, please open it and tap on "Apple Pay".
2. Then select the desired card and tap on "Add to Apple Wallet". Bestätigen Sie den Vorgang abschließend mit einer TAN, sowie in der Wallet-App.
3. Um die Einrichtung direkt in der Wallet-App vorzunehmen, öffnen Sie diese und tippen Sie auf das „Plus-Symbol“.
4. Wählen Sie als nächstes „Sparkasse“ aus der Bankenliste aus und legen Sie unter „Kartentyp“ die gewünschte Karte fest.
5. Abschließend ist noch die Freigabe via TAN über die Sparkassen-App erforderlich.
